Hello! I am Devontae and I am a Licensed Resident in Counseling (Virginia). I believe being in a position to provide therapeutic services to the public is a privileged position, and I absolutely love being able to do so. I have heard many personal stories from individuals, ranging from their fears of seeking therapy, to the amazing benefits they gained from receiving therapy, and everything in between. I aim to be a non-judgmental and consistently positive source that is willing to work collaboratively with individuals who may be uncertain about their therapeutic goals, as well as those who may be very intentional about what they want to achieve through therapy.

Life presents many difficult obstacles along the journey, including school and career responsibilities, maintaining healthy relationships, and keeping up with health. I am here to help you achieve a life of personal fulfillment! I will not be giving you the solutions to the issues you may face…instead, I will be assisting you to recognize your own personal ability to find the solutions to the particular life issue you may be facing. In other words, I believe everyone has an “inner superhero” within and that sometimes it may take some help discovering and unlocking the profound superpower that is inside. Through commitment to the therapeutic process, I aim to help you discover your own “inner superhero!”

Welcome! My name is Loryn. I am thrilled to serve you. From firsthand experience, I understand how intimidating it can feel to start counseling. You are embarking on a new, deeply personal journey with someone you do not know. My mission is to give you the space, safety, and respect to explore whatever has brought you to therapy. A little about me: I am a Richmond native with a professional background in the communication field. My own mental health journey has inspired me to pay forward the powerful support I’ve received in counseling. Since pursuing my new career, I have earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from William & Mary, as well as my National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential from the National Board for Certified Counselors. I am particularly interested in treating depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and trauma, but remain open to working with other concerns. I aim to tailor my interventions to each client’s needs and personality. Depending on the client, I may incorporate elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Existential Therapy, and/or Adlerian Psychology. I also like to involve tools to enhance self-compassion. I strive to apply a multicultural lens to my work and enjoy working with older children, adolescents, and adults of different genders/gender identities, racial and cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations. If given the opportunity to work with you, I will meet you with curiosity, compassion, and a collaborative attitude. I wish you well in your growth and healing.

Hi! My name is Taylor. and I am a Supervisee in Social Work with A Peace of Mind Counseling. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2023. During my graduate program, I completed an internship with A Peace of Mind Counseling, which has since grown into my current role as a part-time clinician under supervision.

Before stepping into the world of mental health counseling, I worked as a medical social worker in case management beginning in 2019, gaining experience across a variety of healthcare settings. These roles gave me a strong foundation in supporting individuals through life transitions and complex challenges, and ultimately inspired me to pursue my long-term goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

I have been passionate about mental health therapy since I was 17, influenced by my own meaningful experiences with social workers who made a lasting impact on my life. Today, my favorite part of being a therapist is walking alongside clients as they work toward their goals—and witnessing those powerful “aha” moments when insight and growth come to light.

My areas of clinical interest include working with adults and supporting women experiencing postpartum and perinatal mood disorders. I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches into my work, including Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

At the heart of my practice is the belief that every person has the capacity to grow, heal, and live their best life. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can explore challenges, build on their strengths, and move closer to the life they want to create.x

Hello, I’m Shannon, a graduate student at the College of William and Mary working toward my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m honored to serve as a Mental Health Counselor Intern at A Peace of Mind Counseling Services, where I strive to create a safe, supportive space for clients to explore challenges, heal, grow, and discover their strengths.

My journey into counseling began with my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia, where I also volunteered on a crisis hotline and completed introductory counseling coursework. Those early experiences, combined with my own reflections during the COVID-19 pandemic, deepened my commitment to mental health and inspired me to pursue counseling as a career. My counseling style is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and empowerment. While I don’t fit neatly into one theory, I draw from person-centered approaches, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing, always tailoring my work to meet the unique needs of each client. I am especially interested in supporting adolescents and adults with concerns related to identity, self-esteem, relationships, stress, grief, and career or life transitions—but I welcome clients from all backgrounds and with diverse needs.

Professionally, I’ve spent several years supporting young people in educational settings—first as a College and Career Advisor, and now as a Student Support Specialist in both middle and high schools. These roles have allowed me to walk alongside adolescents as they navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges, and they continue to shape my passion for helping others through life transitions. I would be honored to walk alongside you in your therapeutic process, offering a safe, compassionate space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward a more fulfilling life and meaningful change.
